This guide provides solutions for common issues faced while using Battery Buddy Desktop. Please follow the steps below based on the problem you encounter.
1. BMS Connected but Dashboard Shows “BMS Not Connected” (No Data Visible)
- Close the Battery Buddy Desktop application.
- Open Task Manager and check if
main.exeis still running.- If yes, select it and click End Task.
- Reopen the Battery Buddy Desktop application.
- Restart the BMS device and reconnect.

2. Firmware File Not Working
- Verify that the firmware file version is compatible with the BMS.
- Ensure that the file naming format is correct.
- Example: If the firmware version is 3.6, the file name should end with: Test_DL_V4_SG36.hex
- The SG36 suffix is mandatory for compatibility.
3. CAN-USB Adapter Compatibility
- Confirm that the CAN-USB adapter is updated to the latest supported version.
- The adapter must have the following identifiers:

4. Checking if Data is Actually Coming from BMS
- Navigate to the Battery Buddy Desktop installation directory.
- Locate and open the
main.exefile. - Enter the COM port number in the terminal window and press Enter.
- If the BMS is transmitting correctly, the live data will be displayed in the terminal.
